Goals & Objectives
The Captains' Mission:
To empower committed, youth baseball players in Northern Utah with the necessary skills and tools so that they can achieve their dreams of playing baseball at the at the highest level. We will do this through holistic player development, so that our players are prepared physically, mentally and emotionally to compete at the high school and college level.

Objective #1: Build fundamentally sound 90-foot baseball players that are prepared to play post-high school
It’s easy to have tryouts to find all the biological outliers and coach them to victory. The Captains program is about personal development and improvement, which takes time and commitment. By teaching our players "Skills that Scale" and tracking their progress through regular metric gathering sessions through the year, we are able to hold players accountable for their own successes and failures.
Objective #2 - Teach resilience by providing a safe place to fail and learn
Our program focuses on long term development and helping kids be comfortable with failure. We started calling it the “Fail Faster” approach, because the sooner you fail, the sooner you can learn from it. Instead of rewarding performance and outcomes after a game and making a big deal about certain plays, we let the kids talk about what they learned. When a kid strikes out, we celebrate it, because now you get to be the hero in the dugout by telling your teammates what you learned so they can have more competitive at bats.
Objective #3 - Create good teammates through positivity and selfless play
In the Captains program, we believe that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and we encourage selfless play and a "Team First" attitude. We always encourage players to do their best, regardless of the situation, but focusing on player development rather than wins and losses, helps our teams understand that there are things in life that are far more important than winning.
